I was watching an anime called gate keepers then it's sequl Gate keepers 21

and it's such a freaking difference i tell u

GK is a jap anime that's like say..a comedy action anime, a bit of laughs etc

GK 21 is 30 years after it and it's just so bleak and dark. It paints humanity as totally without hope. The hero of GK is dead before he even hits 40 and the action is carried out by his daughter who's so totally anti social and dark brooding.

In GK u see the characters laughing and smiling, colours used are bright blue skies, in fact almost the whole anime is cheerful, there's always a solution to the problems faced.

GK21, colouring is totally bleak black. most of the action takes place at night, in dim gloomy areas. Here the heroine and her mentor acknowledge that the fight against "evil" is hopless since there will always be humans with negative feelings which become the bad guys. Best part? The powers they use when overused destroys them bit by bit or curses them to be unhappy or death etc. There's an immediate feeling of hoplessness. U dun use ur powers, the bad guys win. U use ur powers, ur guranteed to have your happiness taken away and if overused, eventually your life too. It's a lose lose situation.

It's like swimming in a nice warm swimming pool and being teleported to the antarctica all of a sudden

Apparently there's a novel GK 1985 that explains the gap btw GK and GK 21 and even though i seriously want to read it, it's like utterly not in circulation and nothing on the internet on it.

Just watching GK 21 gave me such a feeling of poignant despair and hoplessness. it's way beyond emo. *brr...cold*

GK series can be watched on animeshuupidden.com and GK21 can be watched on youtube.

Just remember GK21 is totally different from GK. You've been warned
